Real Madrid stayed three points clear of Atletico Madrid on top of the La Liga standings on Saturday when Los Blancos won 1-0 at Malaga.
Real’s win came courtesy of a solitary strike from Cristiano Ronaldo, who linked up with Welsh wizard Gareth Bale for the only goal of the encounter.
Real Madrid have now gone 31 games undefeated; a run which has included 26 wins and just five draws.
Whilst Gareth Bale wasn’t on top form against Malaga, the former Tottenham star did more than enough to impress.
Bale never seem likely to find the back of the net himself, however the left-footed forward looked more than capable of picking out an incisive pass for a teammate to score – as proved the case when he teed up Ronaldo for the winner – whilst Bale’s real strength was seen in his running, which was direct and powerful.
Bale also came to his team’s recuse when he made a vital clearance from a Malaga corner midway through the opening period.
As for Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar was again the difference on the night.
Cristiano looked hungry for goals right from the get-go and continued his superb record against Malaga (13 goals in 12 matches) with an emphatic finish into the corner. Ronaldo was also the only Madrid player to get a shot on target in the match.
Gareth Bale has now provided 11 assists in Spain this season in his first campaign, while Ronaldo has a crazy 54 goals in 48 games this season.
