Lecce 0 – Salernitana 1 (Coppa Italia, August 23, 2008) Serie A new boys Lecce were dumped out of the Coppa Italia by Serie B side Salernitana, Arturo Di Napoli scored the only goal.

Siena 4 – Albinoleffe 0 (Coppa Italia, August 23, 2008) Siena took Serie B side Albinoleffe to task with goals from Calaio, Portanova, Kharja and Massimo Maccarone.

Chievo 1 – Padova 2 (Coppa Italia, August 23, 2008) Third division Padova pulled off one of the shocks of the day in Italy, Varricchio was the hero for the minnows with both goals, with Sergio Pellissier finding the net for Chievo.

Catania 2 – Parma 1 AET (Coppa Italia, August 23, 2008) Michele Paolucci was the hero for Catania with both goals.
