Colombia legend Carlos Valderrama has praised the current side and named star player James Rodriguez as his successor.
The frizzy-haired former midfield great is a hero of most Colombian fans and made 111 appearances for the national team in his playing days.
Of the current crop of Colombian players, Valderrama said: “It’s a very good team, there’s a lot of quality in the team and they enjoy playing together.”
He then singled out James Rodriguez as a stand-out player: “In particular, James Rodriguez is a good player. A lot of people in Colombia have been looking for the next Carlos Valderrama and now they’ve found that player. James will be the next big star for the next ten years.”
