In 98 minutes of football, Christian Eriksen has established himself as a crowd favourite at White Hart Lane and could well be the answer to Tottenham’ need for a playmaker, to replace Luka Modric, a season after the Croatian left for Real Madrid.
Eriksen was excellent against Norwich last Saturday, bagging an assist and generally dictating play from a position in front of the Spurs midfield and behind Roberto Soldado.
On Thursday night, the Danish playmaker got a 27 minute run out, in place of Mousa Dembele and alongside Paulinho, improved the passing in the Tottenham midfield.
Then, on 86, Eriksen opened his account for Tottenham with a terrific strike from just outside the box.
