‘Christ the Redeemer’ gets a Ronaldinho graffiti makeover, but the vandal makes a stupid spelling error

Standing tall in the neighbourhood of Milionarios is a massive statue known as Christ the Redeemer.

Modelled on the giant figure which gazes down on Rio de Janeiro, Cristo Redentor is a famous and revered landmark in the city. But the figure has now received a controversial graffiti makeover in honour of Brazilian footballing legend Ronaldinho.

Enthusiastic Atletico-MG fan, and reported serial graffiti tagger, Michael Antonio Silva Azevedo was arrested overnight after spraying the back of the Jesus statue with a tribute to Ronaldinho.

The graffiti job was amazingly sloppy though, as Azevedo stupidly tagged the stature with “Ronadinho 49” – missing out the “L” in the buck-toothed wonder’s name.
