Having played close to 100 games for Mexican giants Chivas Guadalajara as well as three times for the El Tri national team, Marco Fabian is fairly well known in his home country.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder will now be in the consciousness of many in the rest of the world after scoring a stunning brace against Barcelona in the World Football Challenge on Wednesday evening and inspiring a famous 4-1 victory for Chivas over the Catalan giants.
Trailing 1-0 on the hour mark, Marco Fabian picked up the ball just outside the box and blasted in a cracker of a strike past Jose Manuel Pinto in the Barcelona goal.
Whilst the equaliser was a stunning effort, it wasn’t a patch on the second goal – one of the best you will have seen this year. Just two minutes later Marco Fabian pulled out a terrific bicycle kick from a right wing cross that left Pinto watching in awe this time.
Expect Marco Fabian to be linked to all the big clubs in Europe now, whilst in England he will be billed as the “new Javier Hernandez” since Chicharito also came through the ranks at Chivas.
