Remember the name Michael Gregoritsch.
Austrian football witnessed their own Wayne Rooney moment last week when 15-year-old Kapfenberg midfielder Michael Gregoritsch scored on his league debut against Austria Vienna.
Gregoritsch, the son of manager Werner Gregoritsch, came off the bench in the 82nd minute and in true fairytale circumstances managed to break the deadlock two minutes after his introduction. In doing so, Gregoritsch rewrote the history books to become the youngest player in the league’s history to find the net.
Former Kapfenberg star Michael Liendl, however, spoiled the moment with his extra time strike to make it 1-1.
Michael Gregoritsch’s debut goal for Kapfenberg can be seen here.
