One of the sub plots at Chelsea next season will be whether Jose Mourinho gets the best out of Fernando Torres. Or simply sells El Nino at the first opportunity.
In an interview with AS on Saturday, Torres said: “His (Jose Mourinho’s) words motivate me. He’s said he doesn’t want to speak with the players that are in this tournament (Confederations Cup) until it’s over.”
And, “It’s always nice to hear about interest from clubs like Barcelona, but my plan is to stay at Chelsea.”
Torres did undoubtedly improve under Rafael Benitez at Chelsea and towards the end of 2012/2013 showed some signs or returning to his Liverpool form with important goals against Basel, Benfica and Everton.
The 29-year-old striker also looked sharp in Spain training yesterday ahead of tonight’s match with Uruguay at the Confederations Cup.
