If Chelsea can’t incorporate the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne into their team this season, what hope is there of Brazilian starlet Lucas Piazon getting a chance in the Blues first squad in 2014/15?
Chelsea’s solution to stockpiling some of the best young talent in world football has been to farm out their special stars of tomorrow to other clubs, and perhaps the biggest beneficiary of Chelsea’s loan policy is Dutch side Vitesse.
The Dutch side have received an influx of Chelsea loanees (Hutchinson, van Aanholt and Kakuta) who will undoubtedly improve in the Eredivisie, but whether it is fair on the rest of the league is questionable.
On Sunday in the Eredivisie, Vitesse beat NAC 3-2 to reclaim top spot in the division. Vitesse now hold a two point lead over Ajax, while they have won their last seven games on the bounce in all competitions.
Against NAC, 19-year-old Lucas Piazon stole the headlines with his 9th and 10th goals on the season.
Piazon levelled the match 1-1 with an fabulous penalty into the top corner, and the teenage Brazilian then fired the hosts into the lead in the 50th minute with a sublime solo goal.
Showing maturity beyond his years, Piazon controlled a high ball in the NAC box with a neat piece of chest control, before nicking the ball away from an opposition defender and then coolly finding the bottom corner for a sweet strike.
Watch Lucas Piazon scored another special goal for Vitesse in a wonderful season in Holland below.
