Charlie Adam stepped up to take a long-range free-kick from fully 45 yards midway through the first half against Man United, with plainly no chance of directly scoring.

As if hoping for a lucky bounce or whatever he could get, he blasted a wishful low shot straight at the wall, which ricocheted off Michael Carrick and into the back of the net, leaving De Gea with no chance in the United goal.
