Last weekend in Israel, former Aston Villa manager John Gregory watched as his struggling side Maccabi Ahi Nazrat pick up a massive three points in their bid to beat the drop when they edged sixth-placed Ashdod 1-nil.
The winner came late in the day. Gregory threw on striker Yaniv Luzan in the 79th minute and within three minutes of his introduction Luzan made his presence tell sliding home the only goal for second-bottom Nazrat.
After scoring Luzan immediately ran over to celebrate with his fans, and that’s when the comedy moment played out. With Luzan lapping up the applause, left-back Mark Gorman came steaming in to try and join in the fun and games. Euphoric, Gorman launched himself Superman style towards Luzan, with the clear intention that the goalscorer would catch him mid-flight.
Sadly the catch never materialised, and Gorman was left to fall flat on his face and look like a numpty.
The celebration fail can be seen here.
