Facing the drop, Rovers fans maybe happy to see some of their players still have some fight in them.
David Goodwillie, the 23-year-old Scottish striker who moved to Ewood Park back in August 2011, faces a sentence of lengthy community service for his part in a 4 am brawl on the streets of Glasgow back in 2010.
CCTV footage has emerged of the moment outside the Oko Express when Goodwillie dished out a beating to John Friel. Goodwillie’s assault, however, was undoubtedly provoked, coming after his former Dundee United team mate Danny Swanson was knocked unconscious by Friel in an attack described in court as “cowardly” and “brutal.”
After seeing his chum KO’ed, Goodwillie snapped. He repeatedly punched and kicked Friel in the head and body as retribution for the initial assault.
The fight ended when a police car arrived on the scene and the officers grabbed Goodwillie and took him to the station.
