Tottenham keeper Brad Friedel was on the receiving end of plenty of abuse at the Stade de Garland on Thursday night and he was delighted to rub it in when Mousa Dembele’s late late goal sent Spurs through and Lyon crashing out.
Friedel was booed from the warm up, according to reports, simply due to the fact that he was playing in goal and former Lyon favourite, and now Spurs number one, Hugo Lloris, was on the bench.
The 41-year-old was then treated poorly by the home support for the full 90 minutes simply by virtue of being picked for the Europa League by Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas.
So, at full time Friedel gestured towards the Lyon fans, seconds after Dembele had sent Tottenham through and he took another dig on Twitter (see above) around an hour after the full time whistle.
