There were some special goals in the Champions League on Wednesday evening – particularly the free-kick from Jens Hegeler to lead Bayer Leverkusen to a win over Real Sociedad – but Real Madrid pulled out something rather special for their second against FC Copenhagen.
In terms of build-up, Real Madrid scored one of the goals of the season and whilst they may have ridden their luck against the Danes, with Luka Modric’s handball on the line, the second Cristiano Ronaldo set up a fine second half performance.
Karim Benzema got the ball rolling with a beautiful back heel into the path of Angel Di Maria.
The Argentine winger then (perhaps due to his lack of a right foot) chipped in for Cristiano Ronaldo with an awesome Rabona assist.
Also massively impressive was the movement from Ronaldo who nipped in front of Copenhagen defender Olof Mellberg with impressive speed.
