Not stopping for a break in the summer holidays, a group of high profile Portuguese footballers spend time during their off-season entertaining locals on the beach in Matosinhos, as the stars turned out for the Bruno Alves footvolley challenge.
Basing itself on volleyball, the simple rule of footvolley is to aim to send the ball over the net and touch the sand in your opponents half. Every time the ball falls in the opponents half a point is awarded.
Making up the final were Manchester United’s Nani and Werder’s Hugo Almeida on one side, versus Sporting’s Miguel Veloso and Helder Postiga on the other.
The final, which lasted just five minutes, was a tight affair with Nani and Hugo Almeida narrowly winning 25-23.
