If Manchester City fail to win the Premier League, and they could be 8 points behind Manchester United by the time they next play, then the defining image of their campaign could well be today’s very public bust-up between Mario Balotelli and Aleskandr Kolarov.
City were 3-1 down midway through the second half when they won a free-kick on the edge of the Sunderland box and Balotelli was eager to have a strike on goal.
Kolarov eventually won the argument and took a free-kick that eventually sailed over the bar with Manchester City needing a late comeback to secure just a point, surely not enough with Manchester United heading to Blackburn on Monday night.
The fact both Balotelli and Kolarov scored suggests it didn’t affect either the Italian or Serb too much but this is not the first time they have openly argued with a training ground bust-up reported in August 2011.
