Under the simple headline “Come Play!” the Australian bid to host either the 2018 or 2022 World Cup has finally got off the ground, supported by a glitzy two-and-a-half minute advert promoting the initiative.
The Football Federation Australia’s promotional film begins with the countries most famous footballing son, Harry Kewell, before the action sees the ball travel around Australia. On its journey viewers are introduced to every state and territory in which the tournament would be held, as well as showing the cities, stadia, the outback, wineries, beaches and most importantly the everyday Australians who love soccer.
There is even an appearance by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who personally lends his support to the campaign.
