Aston Villa keep Spurs rock-bottom of the Premier League

Tottenham 1 – Aston Villa 2 (Premier League, September 15, 2008) Nigel Reo-Coker put Villa into the lead in the fifth minute at White Hart Lane, finishing at the back post after Spurs failed to clear a low left wing cross from Agbonlahor. After the break Villa doubled their advantage, Barry threaded a simple ball through to Ashley Young, who brought the ball forward before letting fly from 25 yards and seeing his shot slip through Gomes, leaving the keeper with egg on his face, after he had made some important saves in the first-half. Three minute from time Spurs pulled a goal back when Jenas’ shot was diverted goalwards by Darren Bent.
