Uniao Leiria are bottom of the Portuguese Liga Sagres for a good reason. They aren’t very good.
Without a victory since the 11th of December – and in stark contrast to Braga’s new record of eleven straight league wins that has shot them into second – Leiria collected their seventh defeat in 10 matches on Friday going down 2-1 to the Arsenalistas.
Nevertheless there was a chink of light for Uniao in their most recent defeat, and it surrounded the consolation goal which Bruno Moraes bagged.
Step forward Nicklas Barkroth; the 20-year-old Swede with the record of being the youngster ever debutant in the Allsvenskan (he played for IFK Gothenburg when he was just 15-years-old). On Friday night he completed just his second appearance for Leiria since joining them on loan, and he marked the occasion in amazing showboating fashion.
Just seven minutes after making his entrance Barkroth pulled off an outrageous rabona cross to the back post which Moraes nodded in.
