Arsene Wenger was in front of the press on Monday following a nervy weekend for the Gunners in which they beat Wigan on penalties to win the FA Cup final.
Although Arsenal reached the cup final, the Gunners suffered a setback in the Premier League over the weekend as Everton leapfrogged the Wenger Boys into fourth place in the table.
Arsenal’s next match is against West Ham in the Premier League on Tuesday night: a match the Gunners need to win to maintain their hopes of playing the Champions League next season.
Wenger gave some mixed team news ahead of the Irons’ match, saying that Nacho Monreal, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey are all doubts with various knocks and fitness setbacks. Only the sunnier side, Tomas Rosicky and Laurent Koscielny could both be fit for the Hammers.
On the more wider PR side of matters, Wenger insisted that the Gunners still have plenty to fight for this season.
I think if we win our games we will finish in front [of Everton]. For us it’s important now to focus on the Premier League and if we do that well I’m confident we will come back.
We have a final in the FA Cup but we now have a period where we can concentrate on the Premier League.
