The Sun claim this Tuesday morning that “Arsenal are in talks with Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia — but face stiff competition from Real Madrid.”
Biglia has long been rumoured to be leaving Belgium champions Anderlecht and according to reports is allowed to leave for eight million pounds.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly keen to beat Jose Mourinho to the midfielder but The Sun roll out quotes that are over two weeks old from the 26-year-old Argentine international.
Biglia: “Real Madrid and Arsenal have both been in contact and I’ll wait to see what happens. I am still under contract with Anderlecht until 2015, but they know that I plan to leave. If a club offers the right price, Anderlecht will let me go.”
With the likes of Mikel Arteta, Alex Song, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Aaron Ramsey, Abou Diaby, Francis Coquelin and Emmanuel Frimpong battling for an Arsenal midfield berth, does Arsene Wenger need another signing in the middle of the park?
This is not including the fact Arsenal have been heavily linked with French defensive midfielders Yann M’Vila and Blaise Matuidi.
Anderlecht captain Biglia is an undoubted talent but this piece of transfer gossip appears a little wayward. Video evidence of Biglia is below.
