Arsenal make £10m bid for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, offer rejected [Sky Sports]

Are Arsenal about to finally make a significant signing?

News has broken on Monday afternoon that Arsenal have submitted a formal bid for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

Cabaye, or Yoann Kebab as Joe Kinnear would call him, was linked to Manchester United and PSG earlier in the summer without leaving St James’ Park, but with the Gunners now actually lodging an offer for the Frenchman there seems every chance the midfielder will move to the Emirates.

According to the rumour mill, any suitor for Cabaye would need to fork out €15 million to convince the Magpies to sell their employee.

Cabaye has been at St James’ Park since 2011 having been signed for 5 million pounds, during which time he has chalked up 60 appearances for Newcastle scoring 10 goals.

UPDATE: Sky Sports now report that Arsenal made a £10m bid for Cabaye, but Newcastle have rejected the offer.

Below is a Sky Sports News report on Arsenal’s failed bid for Cabaye, as well as a collection of Tweets reacting to the news of Arsenal’s transfer bid.
