Ajax 2 – Arsenal 3 (Amsterdam Tournament, August 8, 2008) Ajax broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with a stunning goal from Luis Suarez who crashed home a half volley following an attempted headed clearance from Kolo Toure. And two minutes later the Gunners conceded a second, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar firing home a sweet strike from the edge of the box after a quick free-kick again exposed Arsenal’s centre-halves. Arsenal hit back in the second half, Eboue delivered a delicious right wing cross and Emmanuel Adebayor powered home a header. In the 73rd minute Arsenal drew level, a poor backpass was intercepted by Adebayor and he picked out Bendtner, who scored. And the North Londoners stole the win in the 83rd minute, Denilson broke into the box from an inside left position, cut back to Adebayor, and the striker bagged his second.
Liverpool 1 – Lazio 0 (Friendly, August 8, 2008) Andriy Voronin was in the right place at the right time to secure Liverpool the win in their eighth pre-season game as he volleyed home from Jay Spearing’s pass in injury-time.
Inter Milan 0 – Sevilla 0 (Amsterdam Tournament, August 8, 2008) Inter played out a dull draw with Sevilla. Even the introduction of players like Luis Figo, Adriano, and Ibrahimovic failed to inspire an Inter team that looked flat and unimaginative.
AEK Athens 1 – Bolton Wanderers 0 (Friendly, August 8, 2008) Jussi Jaaskelainen saved a penalty from Rivaldo on 11 minutes, six minutes later Perparim Hetemaj scored with a stunning strike from distance. Minutes later Gary Cahill was sent-off.

Newcastle 2 – PSV 2 (Friendly, August 6, 2008) The Toon broke their three-game goal drought when Steven Taylor guided a header home from Geremi’s corner. James Milner, playing as a makeshift front-man, crafted Newcastle’s second when he teed up Danny Guthrie. But the Dutch champions replied through Afellay and Nordin Amrabat to snatch a draw.

The host when 2-1 up after Lewandowski turned home a cross after good team build up play. Wrobel struck a volley to equalise for Belchatow in the 77th minute, and just four minute later, an own goal from Henriquez sowed up the game for the visitors.
