Less than 24 hours on, Barcelona are still reeling from the shock cruciate ligament injury suffered by sweeper-keeper Victor Valdes last night.
Valdes has been ruled out of the World Cup, and indeed the rest of the club season, which in turn means Valdes has likely played his last game for the club, save for a decision reversal during the injury contemplation.
Whether he plays for the Cules again or not, Valdes will undoutedly go down as Barcelona’s greatest ever keeper, having presided over the Catalan nets for 3 Champions League triumphs, as well as winning countless Zamora trophies.
Anims Valdes! As they say in Barcelona during moments of criticism for their keeper, ‘We’ll always have Paris….’
