Angry Maik Franz fails to kick a chair

Angry Maik Franz fails to kick a chairThis footage comes from Wednesday night’s Bundesliga match between Karlsruhe and Schalke, and captures a beautifully unfortunate moment as an angry footballer tries to lash out, but fails.

Schalke raced into an two goal lead early doors, Marcelo Bordon scoring in the 15th minute before Kevin Kuranyi added the second four minutes later. With a mountain to climb, Karlsruhe’s task became that much more insurmountable when defender Maik Franz saw red for a second yellow card early in the second half.

Reacting angrily to receiving his marching orders, as Franz exited the pitch he motioned towards heading directly to the bench, only to be forced by a match official to leave the field of play. With his blood already boiling, Franz took the opportunity to lash out on a poor chair, but sadly for the defender, his fully-committed assault on the object went awry as the chair was perched up against an advertising hoarding.

See how the chair survived Franz’s attack here. (Eye witness footage of the event can be seen here.)
