The Copa Argentina was blessed with a wonder-goal on Wednesday night.
Deportivo Merlo advanced to the quarter-finals of the cup after coming from behind against beat Sarmiento Junin 2-1, which was a bitter blow for the visitors after they had gone ahead through Ramon “Wanchope” Abila’s amazing strike.
Five minute before the interval Sarmiento won a free-kick just past the centre-circle, but rather than lumping the ball straight in to the box the visitors worked the play out the to the right.
Sarmiento’s number 5 whipped a decisive ball into the mixer, which picked out “Wanchope” Abila standing on the edge of the 6-yard box.
Ignoring the fact that he was facing the wrong way whilst having a Merlo defender up his backside for close company, Abila swung an acrobatic boot at the cross to score a sublime golazo.
