Amazing Scenes! 1000s of Mexicans descend on the Angel of Independence to party after reaching the last-16

Mexican fans spilled out onto the streets on Mexico City on Monday after El Tri booked their place in the last-16 of the World Cup.

Mexico, who struggled to reach Brazil in the first place after a disastrous qualifying campaign, have now lined up a date against host nation Brazil for a chance to advance into the quarterfinals.

Miguel Herrera’s side negotiated their passage out of Group A with a 3-1 win over Croatia, and after watching their side claim the victory, thousands of Mexican supporters descended onto the Angel of Independence on a roundabout over Paseo de la Reforma in downtown Mexico City.
