Ajax announce that fan who fell during Barcelona match is still in critical condition
Ajax released an official announcement on their website on Thursday morning regarding the man that fell over 10 metres from the stands into the “moat” at the Amsterdam ArenA after the second goal against Barcelona on Tuesday.
Almost immediately football fans across the globe were shocked when images spread across the world wide web of the stricken Ajax supporter.
The Amsterdam giants say they have been repeatedly in touch with the family of the injured fan and urged the media to respect their privacy at such an emotional time.
They also brought the following information: “The victim is a 46-year-old Ajax supporter. The man is married and father of a son. He is a football fan, a real Ajax supporter who watches every game and occasionally goes to the stadium.”
Ajax’s statement continued: “He was seriously injured Tuesday night and taken to the hospital in critical condition. His condition was on Thursday morning still critical. Finally, the family said that he had a quiet night but has serious head injuries and remains in intensive care .”
A meeting is to be held on Thursday evening where Ajax will provide counselling to anybody who witnessed the fan fall from the stands.
