Wenger hints that Abou Diaby could still have a future at the club if he proves his fitness in the next few weeks. Unlikely to happen #AFC

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby will surely be remembered as one of the most injury prone footballers of all time.
The 28 year old Frenchman has spent 10 years at Arsenal but has managed just 16 minutes of Premier League football over the past two seasons.
Having made a return in a friendly against Brentford this week, Arsene Wenger was asked about Abou Diaby in his pre match press conference.
With his contract due to run out this summer, Arsene Wenger admitted that it is still possible for Abou Diaby to earn a new deal at the club.
Wenger told reporters that Diaby must prove that he can stay fit if there is to be a future for him at the Emirates.
“I had a chat with him and told him how I can envisage the future,” Wenger said. “He has to make a decision. Of course he understands completely that he has to perform and to show that he can be present on a consistent way.
“I will see where we go from there. I wouldn’t like to go into details, we have to meet again to see where we go from what I told him. It has to be linked a little bit with his presence.”
Arsenal fans may have a soft spot for the injury prone midfielder but were nonetheless shocked by Arsene Wenger’s admission that Diaby could stay longer.

Exactly what is Wenger doing in the photo Diaby clearly must have of him?

Wenger's exaggerated confidence in players is overwhelming. He just might offer Diaby a new contract and sell Walcott.

84 Mins in 2 seasons? Abou Diaby's jazz on Arsene Wenger was made by Adebayor's mum

Seriously, what mysterious hold does Diaby have over Wenger? A new contract would be utterly absurd.
