Aaron Muirhead (Partick) has his penalty saved, then headbutts an opponent

There was some serious drama in the Scottish Challenge Cup match between Queen of the South and Partick Thistle.

1-0 down in the 119th minute, Partick were awarded a penalty to send the game to penalties.

However, Aaron Muirhead’s penalty was saved and in the ensuing melee, Queen of the South players got a little overexcited and took the piss a little too much, reminiscent of Martin Keown’s behaviour towards Ruud Van Nistlerooy all those years ago.

Muirhead responded, headbutting a ginger Scotsman and he was duly sent off.

The drama didn’t end there as 10 man Partick equalised deep in stoppage time, sending the game to penalties and causing a pitch invasion in the process.

Queen of the South won on penalties, leaving Partick reeling.
