The Bundesliga II has been a gold mine for crazy misses in 2011/2012.

Who could forget Edgar Prib’s infamous FAIL for Greuther Furth against Eintracht Frankfurt in December which went viral across the globe.

On Monday night, 1860 Munich striker Kevin Volland was the latest player to fall to the curse of the German second division with a shocking miss when presented with an open goal in a 2-0 win over Energie Cottbus.

Volland, a promising 19-year-old forward, with 9 goals in 20 appearances to his name this season, was presented with a glorious chance from a low right wing cross midway through the second half.

With the goalkeeper out of position, Volland had what looked to be the easiest of tap-ins but was foiled by the post with his only excuse being two defenders on the line.

Fifteen minutes later Volland was hauled off to cap a miserable personal display despite 1860′s victory.
