According to local reports, Brescia were getting prepared to sack coach Giuseppe Iachini on Saturday as the hosts’ mid-season slump that had seen them win just once in eight matches appeared to continue. But then, 120 seconds from the final whistle, Francesco Flachi struck in spectacular circumstances.
The move started when defensive midfielder Marco Zambelli raced down the Brescia right hand side, before whipping in a cross that sailed straight to Flachi.
The 34-year-old Italian centre-forward, who was yet to open his account since moving from Empoli, then found the net in style as Flachi acrobatically smacked the ball home with a scissors-kick from just inside the Modena box.
