“Anything Xabi Alonso can do, Adam Pepper can do better.” – the commentator on the video below.
While the senior XI were having a fabulous away day in Manchester, Liverpool’s under-18s yesterday travelled to Blackburn to play out a thrilling 2-2 draw, which saw a fabulous goal from the Reds’ midfielder Adam Pepper who scored from just inside his opponents’ half.
Michael Hall had given Rovers the lead drilling home a shot from a tight angle before the Reds levelled early in the second half when Joe Kennedy swooped in unmarked at the back post to slide the ball home from a Pepper cross.
Then came the game’s standout moment. Picking up the ball in the centre-circle, Pepper carried the ball only slightly forward before spotting the keeper off his line. His thought-process was instant, as Pepper released a sublime lob that travelled all the way over the keeper into the net.
The only disappointment was that such a quality strike did not win the match, Tom Hitchcock grabbing a Blackburn equaliser to end the match honours even.
