9 seconds and in: Reza Ghoochannejhad (Cambuur Leeuwarden) vs Veendam

Nawaf Al Abed may have been a full six seconds faster, but Iranian-Dutch footballer Reza Ghoochannejhad managed to force his way into the record books this weekend in the Dutch second division as the 22-year-old forward struck after just nine seconds in his match with Veendam.

Playing on Friday night in the Dutch Jupiler League foe Cambuur Leeuwarden, the striker latched onto early indecision in the visitors backline to defend a ball launched upfield, and fired a shot over the over that looped into the back of the net.

Undoubtedly the fast goal of 2010 so far, Reza Ghoochannejhad’s lightning strike can be seen here.
