Crazy odds! Manchester United are 4/1 to beat Swansea!

Expectation at Old Trafford come 12:45 on Saturday will be at fever pitch as Manchester United look to start their charge to become the most feared club in the Premier League again.

Was seventh under David Moyes a blip? Can Louis van Gaal bring the success of the Sir Alex Ferguson era back to Old Trafford?

Judging from pre-season, Manchester United are going to take some stopping. LVG returned from Holland’s impressive World Cup campaign in super quick time and instigated a 3-5-2 formation and quick passing football that has bagged great results.

Manchester United have won seven straight games in pre-season, scoring 18 goals along the way. And bagged victories over Roma, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Valencia.

The new 3-5-2 formation looks perfectly suited to the likes of Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney whilst the addition of Ander Herrera looks astute with the Spaniard providing a class and presence in midfield that has been lacking for some time.

Swansea meanwhile are tipped by many to struggle under Gary Monk who saved the Welsh side form any relegation problems after taking over from Michael Laudrup last season but hardly set the world alight.

Their form has been mixed in pre-season, wins over Plymouth, Exeter and Reading have been offset by defeats to Minnesota United, Bournemouth and Villarreal.

The home defeat to The Yellow Submarine looked particularly ominous coming a week ago but Swansea do have some decent attacking talents in Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wilfried Bony and Bafetimbi Gomis.

In last season’s equivalent fixture, Manchester United won 2-0 thanks to goals from Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck.

A similar scoreline is to be expected and headlines of “Vanchester United” and the “Louis van Gaal revolution is underway” can be expected by 14:50 on Saturday afternoon.
