“In about three years, I will be better than Zlatan. He is older than me and has now reached his peak as the top scorer in Serie A - but I have a plan, I believe in it and I am ready. Next season, I can finally make my breakthrough and then I still have two years to become better than Zlatan – and I will. By then I will be close to my peak and will be able to look upon myself as one of the world’s greatest strikers.”- Nicklas Bendtner.
There is much to dislike about Bendtner. From his stupid pink boots to his porcupine haircut, splashed with a heavy dose of misplaced arrogance to boot, Bendtner seems to encapsulate many of the negative stereotypes linked to the modern footballer. And now the Danish loudmouth has attempted to whip up local Scandinavian politics by taking a pot-shot at the region’s leading footballer, Zlatan, claiming he will eventually prove to be even better than the Swedish striker who is currently on the top of his game.
We beg to differ Nicklas. And by reducing himself to his own one-man-cheer-squad Bendtner comes across as yet another over-paid footballer with a super-size ego.
To illustrate our point of how far apart these footballers are at present, we can bring you the video evidence of how each Bendtner and Zlatan performed over the course of the 2008/09 season.
Video evidence of Nicklas Bendtner season-that-was can be seen here, while highlights of Zlatan’s impact over the course of the last year can be seen here.

He will prove his worth in the best league in the world.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
he isn’t claiming to be better at all, as you posted in your thread, he aims to be better than him in 3 years time.
Bendtner is an excellent asset to arsenal, he i shard working, direct in his play, and scored 15 goals form mainly substitute appearences.
As Ben says, he will definitely prove his worth, think your article is a bit shit to be honest
June 4th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Bendtner is 21 years of age and has just scored 15 goals in one of the best clubs in the world as 4th choice striker. Where was Zlatan when he was 21? Playing at Malmö.
Zlatan has never proven himself in a proper league. Bendtner would easily score 20 goals/season in Serie A if he played for Inter. So yes, I believe Bendtner will be better than Zlatan in about 3 years.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
Whats with the bendtner witch hunt? he has said nothing wrong, yet is constantly attacked by the media, zlatan infaact was the arrogant one claiming that arsenal is a baby club. Here is the original article
Arsenal’s Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner has hit back at claims made by Inter Milan’s Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic who claimed that he felt pity for Arsenal fans shelling out big money to watch a team of inexperienced youngsters. The pair are readying themselves for a face-off this weekend when their respective nations take each other on in a vital World Cup qualification match in Gothenburg on Saturday.
Outspoken Ibrahimovic made the claims to publication Afttonbladet, stating:
“Just look at Arsenal. They don’t buy the best players, which is sad, very sad for their supporters.
“They pay a lot of money for a season ticket just to see a junior team. That can’t be fun.”
Taking umbrage at the suggestions, 21-year-old Bendtner hit back at his fellow Scandinavian by mocking Inter’s poor showing in the Champions League this season.
“He is not correct. His words don’t make any sense at all,” he told Danish newspaper B.T:
“We could’ve performed better this season but we did reach the semi-final in the FA Cup and the Champions League. Further than his Inter side.
“We scored as many goals as Manchester United and that shows what we are capable of.
“And in the Premier League there’s so much competition because it’s the best league in the world. It’s clearly better than Zlatan’s league, Serie A.”
Secure in his ability, Bendtner also told homeland publication Ekstra Bladet that despite improvements this season in his scoring record, he will aim for even greater heights next term.
“I see next season as the season when I get my big breakthrough.
“That’s when I am going to score the goals that the best strikers do. That is the last step that I need to take.
“Fifteen goals (for the season) is satisfactory but when I look at the number of chances I had, I should have scored a few more.
“But 15 is okay, but I wouldn’t mind a few more in next season.”
As if to emphasise his confidence, Bendtner revealed he had a plan to usurp his striking counterpart as one of the world’s best strikers.
“In about three years, I will be better than Zlatan,” he told B.T.
“He is older than me and has now reached his peak as the top scorer in Serie A, but I have a plan, I believe in it and I am ready.
“Next season, I can finally make my breakthrough and then I still have two years to become better than Zlatan – and I will.
“By then I will be close to my peak and will be able to look upon myself as one of the world’s greatest strikers.”
June 4th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
I’m glad Bendtner spoke out, it was a defensive statement in retaliation to Zlatans arrogant statement.
Zlatan said Arsenal are a junior team and fans are wasting their money watching them. Bendtner retaliated by saying Arsenal play in a tougher league and got further than Inter in Europe - both facts.
Zlatan has long been known as an arrogant so and so, but apart from scoring against one paced Italian defenders he hasn’t ever put in a convincing performance against a top European side.

Idiotic post
June 4th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
Wow what an absolutely misleading post. You my friend are not worth the read. But io guess you’ve got the attention you were seeking. congrats. Very well done
June 4th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
LOl, what an A$$hole of an editor. He CLEARLY did not say that. He said in 3 years, not now.
Fking cvnt
June 4th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
What a dumb f*cking headline!
June 4th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
actually, its a good post.
typical of arsenal fans. you seem to become very defensive at the slightest hint of criticism.
for a start, he has had 19 starts in the PL this season, with 9 goals. that is 50% of your PL games. i assume he also started the majority, if not all, of your cup games. very well done for that then, and scoring in the carling cup is something else you can get hot under the collar about (in case you hadnt guessed, i was being sarcastic). and we all know how many chances he has missed, so be quiet. i find it absurd that he can make such claims. not only absurd, but arrogant to boot.
so what if he is in the PL? i can guarantee that give them both the same opposition over a year and zlatan will do better. both will bottle the big games, but zlatan will do much better overall anyway.
how old is bendtner? 20, 21? how on earth is he claiming that at the age of 23, 24 zlatan has reached his peak? that is absurd! as far as any of us know, zlatan will go the route of the majority of strikers and reach his peak when he is about 27/28. same for nicklas, though as i say, he has got some catching up to do.
nobody is asking about what he contributes to arsenal, who, lets face it, havent exactly done much lately. it is the fact he can make such ridiculous claims that riles most people.
oh, it appears that zlatan said some irking stuff first. so? can any of you arsenal fans honestly tell me that you disagree with him? NO, YOU CANT! you want arsene to spend more, coz you know you have to! you’ll be shouting for it on another post somewhere in a while so just grow up. the figures have been released, and you spend the 3rd highest on wages behind chelsea and united, yet claim you have less money, despite the majority of your players being young anyway. yet you couldnt afford to keep hleb and flamini, as well as pires, for the sake of a few thousand more for them. how on earth do you work? and you know inside you are thinking the same thing, that you need to spend more on big players.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
Any real gooner knows Bendtners true worth, and your assumptions about him encompassing everything that is wrong with the modern day footballer are pure bullshit. He knows what it means to play for Arsenal, is always great with the fans and on the couple of times when I’ve been lucky enough to meet him, he proved to be a real gent. He shits all over Adebayor and will be an arsenal legend. What a thoughtless article.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
Bendtner can and will be better than zlatan.
Denmark forever..!
June 4th, 2009 at 4:48 pm
Terry Tibbs you are being silly. At least get your facts right. Zlatan will be 28 in October.
Niklas is quality, and anyone that knows football knows that.
June 4th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
you sir are a fool
first you twist the story to suit your shit blog and then you start TRYING to discredit Bendtner
firstly the only reasons he is saying all of this is because Zlatan attacked Arsenal the club he plays for and is pationate about for no reason
secondly he said in 3 years
thirdly everything Bendtner said is true Zlatan plays in a league that does not compare to the premier league…where were inter in europes quest for teh champions league oh yea they couldnt even make the semis
their own cup competiton did they win that lmao NO
they are a half decent team playing in a half decent league they win their shitty league every year but thats all they are like real madrid as soon as they play a team of real quality they crumble
where was zlatan when he was 21 exactly playing in a shitty league scoring against shitty opponent
was he coming off the bench and scoring a header against Chelsea (a team packed with world class stars) NO
was he coming off the bench and securing his teams passage into the CL knockout stages with a 90min goal NO
do i need to continue to discredit this shit post like basically everyone else has done
didnt think so
June 4th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
oh yea and overpaid really
i really wonder how much hes getting paid cos he is definetly not on anything above 40k
there is a difference between confidence and super ego
super ego= i am the best, i am better than you
confidence= i believe if i follow my plan i will be better than (insert prick) and look upon myself as ONE NOTICE THE FACKING WORD ONE of the best strikers in the world
you facking imbecile
if theres any way to prove your on the way to the top its to score 15 goals in all competitions as the 4 choice striker aged 21 in arguably the best league in europe
June 4th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
some of my funniest highlights:
“Niklas is quality, and anyone that knows football knows that.” LOLOLOLOL
Any people saying that Inter are shit… back to back to back serie A winners!!! And they did kinda exit the CL to one of the world’s best teams… not like they went out to shitmunchers.
I always laugh when there’s a bendtner article on 101, cause I get to watch pathetic gooners try and defend him, because they like to imagine their squad are much better than they actually are…
SPOT ON 101… The guy is a shit, arrogant twat who will realise whilst playing for Birmingham in the championship in 2016 that his career was a failure…
Next we’ll have fucking gooners saying that Eboue is the greatest midfielder ever…
June 4th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
cesc… in which case i apologise, i was wrong. i misread the article and thought bendtner said he is 3 years older than me, and i will be better than him in 3 years time. he didnt, so obivously im wrong. but my points still stand. that doesnt affect any of the points i made. that is why you never answered them. not one fan of any other club has said that nicklas will be better than zlatan, so by your logic, only arsenal fans know football.
and all you idiots saying you got further than inter in the CL, you thickos, you got knoced out by the same team. the only reason you lasted further was coz you got the easier draw.
and ibra was at ajax at bendtners age. anybody who was into football then will know he was courted by some of the top clubs in football, coz he could do this… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Etml43S5QCc … but chose ajax for whatever reason. even after getting into disciplinary problems he ended up getting a move to juve.
ibra is better than bendtner, and if they progress the way they have been ibra always will be better, so for nicklas to act like a mystic meg with his “plan” is a little short-sighted.
and now you say he is one of the best in the world! and no 15, as i said, he has started so many games, and could have scored 25 with the chances he has had.
you just aint worth it
June 4th, 2009 at 5:13 pm
Whoever wrote this is a right knob.
The headline and the first line of the story completely contradict eachother. So straight away everyone can see that you’re thick as fuck.
Bendtner will definately be better than Ibrahimovic. Ibra is shite in the CL and plays in such a por league compared to its peak. Bendtner is 4th choice and 21 and scored 15 this season. Ibra is supposedly “proved” and is shite. Very overrated imo.
Bendtner probably didnt even say what you have quoted. How often this season have sites come out with quotes about players and they turn out to be made up.
However if Bendtner did say that then good for him because he is right. He will even be better than Zlatan in thenext 2 years, never mind the next 3.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
what a stupid blog…shit blog he didnt say anything like hes better than him he said that in the future he could be…prick
June 4th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
they are miles apart. Zlatan is a worldclass player how carry inter on his back. he did not just score the most goal he even made the most assists in inter. even if Bendtner plays in a better team then Zlatan he dosent even come close, if Ibra played in Arsenal he would score about 30 goals a season becouse in italy you only get few goal chanses per game. Ibra makes beutiful goals Bendtner cant even score on a open goal. and Zlatan left malmö when he was 19 to ajax that was when he was at trail with arsenal but ajax offerd malmö 9m and arsenal only 6m.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a mouthy prick who not only insulted Nik but Arsenal too with his stupid and uncalled for comments. Whoever wrote this “article” is like the other guy said: A Knobhead…
June 4th, 2009 at 5:41 pm
shit blog, stick to puttin the goals up, its obvious u lot r too thick to write anything worth reading. sensationalist and misleading, u fuckers.
and heres a personal message to u zlatan ibrahimovich: ur a fuckin tosser.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
knowledge - when Zlatan was 21 he was playin for ajax.
you can search on youtube to see that he was much better than Bendtner allready then. and if u are goin to say that PL is much better than the dutch league, ofcourse it is. but he also took them far in the CL and sored many beatiful goals.
he has titles every year with every club he has played 4.
June 4th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
oh yoshi, what a cunt thou art. the najority of gunners actually realise how good bendtner is, he actually wants to play and wants to improve and be one of the best, unlike tht cunt adebayor who already thinks he is.
And as far as eboue is concerned, no, not the greatest midfielder, but he is solid, does the job in hand, rcovered well from his episode this season and is a great utility player.
thou sir, art truly a cunt, if i didnt already mention that
June 4th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
Don’t know about Ibrahimovic, but Bendtner got more goals this season Dimitar Rofltov, and in less games.
Not bad for an arrogant, pink booted, hedgehog haired, pants round his ankles, hot young fella.
Go Bendy!
June 4th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
Morons - you know the press are blowing the quotes out of proportion, right? Playing on your fickle retarded nature. I read the “interview” when it was published, since then Bendtners claims have evolved each hour into something more and more arrogant.
You do realise his claims about being the best striker at arsenal were disproved as being false a long time ago, right? You do realise the press are characterizing him as being arrogant because you mindless fucks believed it the first time and now they know how to get Arsenal “fans’” backs-up, and thus sell newspapers.
Anyone who believes these wild claims should go back to their little fictional News Of The World holes and leave the real news/football to people with a little common sense.
I was right about Adebayor, and by God I will be right about Bendtner.
June 4th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
Ibra was doin this at Bendtners age
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgqsaDnsEq8
June 4th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
I don’t like Bendtner either but some objectivity never killed anyone.
June 4th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
Everyone commenting on this is a biased idiot and is actually stupid for getting into a debate on a poorly written, thinly veiled attack on Bendtner by a sensationalist idiot. Who is very obviously a Tottenham fan.
The fact of the matter is you can’t compare what Bendtner might be like in the future based on how good Zlatan was when he was that age.
See it for what it was, an inflammatory remark by a player that seems a little arrogant, perhaps through him being at his peak and the response from a young player who wants to prove his worth and has yet to make his mark.
BIG DEAL!!!
P.S. The fans are just as much to blame for Arsenals woeful season as the players are. I can’t even count the amount of times our young, low confidence, players were booed off the pitch this season, it got so fucking bad that gibbs a gifted young player couldn’t even face his own “supporters” after a fucking slip that was unlucky enough to cost an away goal.
The fan performance this season was the worst I’ve ever witnessed, even chelsea fans are more forgiving than the shit I saw this season.
June 4th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
niklas bendtner will no doubt be better than zlatan as if zlatan was a first cice striker in the premier league he would struggle to get 15 goals. yet Bendtner as a 4th choice striker coming off the bench mostly manager to get 15 goals. imagine how many he would get being 1st choice.(more than zlatan!)
June 4th, 2009 at 7:23 pm
Zlatan onli duz well in itali coz its a slow league anywere faster, more technical and rougher he would be complete shit coz he even has his off days in italy so he would be worse than berbatov for united diz season.
June 4th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
This “article” by this “journalist” is simply a witch hunt.
June 4th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
can you gooners STFU!? ive had it with all your lies! first you claim that zlatan was at malmo when he was 21, when in fact he was at ajax when he was 19, having rejected arsenal because they offered too little money (typical stingy wenger), then we get duds saying bendtner could be one of the best in the world, haha, assholes, and now more rubbish about his record. 4th choice, 15 goals etc etc. let me set the record sraight for your cognitively challenged brains.
nicklas has 19 starts in the PL, that is half of all your games, and also has many sub appearances as you know. he has played probably the most out of your strikers along with RVP and ade this season. he hasnt therefore been 4th choice this season, he has been 1st/2nd choice. now for goals. he has 9 (NINE) goals in the league, not 15. he has 15 overall, including carling cup games with rubbish teams etc. so that is 9 goals having played probably more than your other strikers due to their injuries. and goonerY, the dutch league is very technical and faster. have a look at his goals for ajax, especially the one with a link to it already here, comments 17 and 26. greg, LIAR, bendtner, 9 goals and 2 assists this season in the PL, berbatov has 9 goals and 10 assists. check yourself. and berbatov has been poor this season, or so everybody says and compared to what he could have done.
haha, pathetic gooners, start crying just like your team. i actually used to like arsenal, but your fans are pathetic and make you more hateable. if this was published in one place, nowhere in the world would we get such a reaction, except from gooners. and then they claim everybody else doesnt know about football and are spurs fans!! do you realise how bitter you sound!?
June 4th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
terry tibbs is a super moron. Grow some brain tissue or stuff some brain tissue where your brain should be. First of all Bendtner did not say he’s better than Ibra as the article claims.
In 2002 when Ibra was Bendtner’s age he was behind in his development compared to where Bendtner is now. Ibra wasn’t playing in the toughest league in the world. He got 7 goals in striker heaven, the Eredivisie. He only started to play for Sweden while Bendtner already has 24 international caps.
Bendtner has played 1758 minutes this season and has bagged 9 goals. That’s a goal every 195 minutes, or a goal every two games.
Bendtner has 15 goals in all competitions, about the same number of goals as Berbatov who’s played many more minutes.
June 4th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
Haha change of headline, classic!!! Still an idiot though
June 4th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
I am not a fan of Niklas, and sometimes I wonder why our great Manager include him in his line-up
But your post is not correct at all because he never said he is better than Zlatan, but he will in three years time
Than means in my opinion he is going to work hard to become better, and that augurs well to our beloved Arsenal.
We need that kind of attitude from all our players to achieve and so I congratulate Niklas and wish he will be better than the Swede
June 4th, 2009 at 9:46 pm

what a rubbish article by a stupid and jobless person. go and find more paying job to do.
June 4th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Yeah arrogant Bendtner really is the one to attack when responding to unprovoked attacks from a guy not even in the same country.
Ibrahimovic’s spiteful comments have Mourinho written all over them.
Bendtner will be a superstar - I would bookmark this and come back to it in 5 years but I suspect the site will no longer exist with mindless shit like this being posted as an article.
June 5th, 2009 at 12:21 am
Hey douchebag who wrote this ridiculous post if you could get your quote right he said in 2-3 years u f#ck head !! not that he was better than him but that he will be!!! Get a life u twat
June 5th, 2009 at 12:34 am
i absolutely LOVE Bendtner’s attitude. Zlatan spoke about Arsenal in a negative way and Bendtner responded well and told him he will have the last laugh on the field (in 3 years)
Go on Bendtner!!
June 5th, 2009 at 1:03 am
Bendtner is a huge twat. I don’t even care if he’s ever better than Zlatan is now (which I don’t believe he will be, not even close). He’s still a little bitch, and as we saw in the tabloids, he has a little dick.

Coming from a Danish gunner: the kid is utter sh*te.
But that fact alone gives no one the right to bias his statements in the local media for their own and, by extension, the many visiting reader’s amusement.
Let the deluded kid dream.
June 5th, 2009 at 6:20 am
Before reading that article I liked Ibra and disliked Bendtner but after I realize Ibra is an arrogant as who sucks on the international and champions league stage and tries to insult others who will be better than him. I wish Niklas the best of luck in showing up this asshole.
June 5th, 2009 at 6:58 am
LOL I have just realised that this is the largest amount of comments you have ever got on your website, more articles that unfairly attack a player then
June 5th, 2009 at 8:10 am
I have full faith that this big Dane will grow into a very powerful striker, soon no doubt. Zlatan, talented as he is, was clearly venting his frustrations and being totally irrational. And he acts like he actually steps his game up for big games like Champions League ties…
June 5th, 2009 at 8:30 am
Ridiculous article
Bendtner has a lot of potential, playing in one of the top clubs in the best league in the world.
He’s a hard worker and he’ll be better than Ibrahimovic one day
