An extraordinary goal you won’t have seen: Mohammed Mosad (Al Ahli Jeddah) v Hajer

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

It is fair to say the eyes of the football world were not focused upon the Crown Prince Cup match between Hajer and Al Ahli Jedda today. Mohammed Mosad of Al Ahli Jeddah brought a touch of quality and a large dose of good fortune to score from, at a conservative estimate, 80 metres.

The goal which put Al Ahli Jeddah two-up in the game, scored from deep in the right back position, can be seen here.

(Incredibly, our sources in the Kingdom have informed us that Mosad, a Saudi Arabia international, is primarily left footed!)

what i never understand about these type of goals is that when there is no striker within 30 yards of the goal, from what is a clearance, why dont the keepers ever come out to catch the ball, control it or something like that? there is no pressure whatsoever, i dont think anybody is even making a run towards the ball.
