Mineros De Guayana 2 – Cerro Porteno 2 (Copa Sudamericana, August 29, 2012) Jonathan Fabbro and Julio Dos Santos put Cerro in command, but Cerro keeper Diego Barreto was sent off as he fouled Julio Gutierrez in the box in the 62nd minute and Jorge Rojas scored the penalty before Alejandro Guerra equalised.

Universidad Catolica 2 – Tolima 0 (Copa Sudamericana, August 29, 2012) Nicolas Trecco opening the scoring in the 35th minute. Catolica goalkeeper Cristopher Toselli saved a penalty from Manuel Maciel in the 63rd minute and Michael Rios doubled the lead three minutes later.

Capital One Cup: Mirallas bags a brace as Everton beat Leyton Orient 5-0

Chivas 4 – W Connection 0 (CONCACAF Champions League, August 29, 2012) Marco Fabian scored a second-half hat-trick for the home side as they grabbed their first victory of this season’s group stage.

Manchester United U21s 2 – Tottenham U21s 1 (August 29, 2012) The win was sealed by Kiko Macheda who notched almost immediately from kick off and then an early penalty in the second half.

Spurs did pull a goal back in the second half through a Ryan Mason penalty after Harry Kane appeared to dive in the box.

There were a number of positives for Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson as Alexander Buttner made his first appearance for the club at left-back whiilst Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher and Anders Lindegaard all appeared for the full 90 minutes.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas will have been impressed with Andros Townsend, who once again looked like Spurs’ main threat down the left at this level.

The likely main viral video from the match was Anders Lindegaard’s wonder double save to prevent Spurs from scoring.

DC draw with Red Bulls; New England share a 3-3 thriller with Chivas; Crew break the Union

DC United 2 – New York Red Bulls 2 (MLS, August 29, 2012) Joel Lindpere gave the visitors the lead after 18 minutes but it was 1-1 at half-time thanks to Nicholas DeLeon’s 21st-minute goal. Veteran striker Dwayne De Rosario put the home side ahead in the 68th minute with his 100th MLS goal before Wilman Conde hit the back of the net with two minutes remaining to earn a draw for the Red Bulls.

New England Revolution 3 – Chivas USA 3 (MLS, August 29, 2012) New England’s Saer Sene and Chivas USA’s Shalrie Joseph have both scored twice as their two sides played out a 3-3 draw in the MLS.

Atletico Mineiro 2 – Ponte Preta 2 (Campeonato Brasileiro, August 29, 2012) Cicinho cancelled out Danilinho’s 15th-minute opener just before half-time, but Cuca’s men restored their lead soon after the break. Substitute Guilherme put them 2-1 up just after the interval, only for Cicinho to pop up again and net the equaliser on 83 minutes.

Nautico 3 – Figueirense 2 (Campeonato Brasileiro, August 29, 2012) Araujo missed a third-minute penalty and Nautico were made to pay as Caio and Aloisio struck in the first half. But Nautico started their comeback thanks to an Elicarlos brace and Souza netted the 76th-minute winner.
