Dynamo Kiev’s Olexandr Aliyev is a dirty cheat

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Olexandr Aliyev received his orders for an early bath last night at the Emirates, getting sent off just before the final whistle, but the Ukrainian should have been turfed off the pitch much earlier for a disgusting attempt at conning the ref.

As if acting out a war scene from Platoon, Olexandr Aliyev was captured writhing around the deck, clutching his ankle in apparent agony, as the number 8 put on an Oscar nominated performance to prove how “injured” he was.

However, when it became obvious that the ref had no interest in Aliyev’s yelps, incredibly the player’s powers of recovery sped into overdrive, with the midfielder jumping on his feet and spiriting to the aid of his Kiev teammates as Arsenal built another attack.

Video evidence that Olexandr Aliyev is a dirty cheat can be seen here.

So bad is the issue of players feigning injury in football, that the sport has become a joke for Czech rugby fans.

Comparing the hard, honest men of rugby to the cheating, prima donnas littered throughout the world of football, this ad shows how footballers are getting a bad name for cheating.

Diryt cheat is a bit harsh.

Be honest are you a gunner?

  2. Eugenius Says:

Are you serious? Dirty cheat? This happens in every game, are you calling all those footballers dirty cheats? How about focusing on a ref that allowed Fabregas to hit a free kick when the ball was rolling and an obvious hand ball by Bendtner? He was whistling all game for fouls on Dynamo players and then allowed a very, very questionable goal…

    Yes, of course.

Clearly 101greatgoals cant remain impartial to their supported team.

Definite bias in the headline of this article.

Cant condone Aliyev but disgraceful to label him after one infringment.

If someone has a bad tackle on an opponent are they malicous scumbags???????

    Sort it out 101.

I agree, title is far too harsh

What about Rooney’s diving last night?

I’m English myself, but sick of people who have this naive idea that English players don’t cheat and its ‘just foreigners’.

Need we bring out anymore Steven Gerrard or Michael Owen dive reels?

  6. Matt Says:

Haha that first thing I thought was, “Arsenal players would never do something like this, right?”

So yeah, YouTube “Jens Lehmann” and check how that works out.

    Hypocrites.

If they’re playing against Arsenal, then 101greatgoals will call them that.

The worse Arsenal have got, the more noticeable the 101gg bias has got.

It wasn’t a free kick at all. The ref paused the game for an injury and then dropped the ball to restart play, and the Kiev player let Fabregas have it as a part of fair play. He just didn’t realize Fabregas would launch it towards Bendtner straight away.

“What about Rooney’s diving last night?”
He DID come out immediately afterwards and apologize for that, first on the pitch to the spanish player, then to Sir Alex Ferguson after the game.

Oh, thats alright then. I didn’t notice him apologising after his dive against Arsenal to win a penalty. Also, it showed the class of Manchester United when that old drunk Fergie after the game and tried to compare him to Robert Pires. Pathetic club mangaged by a bitter old man.

i think this kiev player learnt this trick from cristiano ronaldo

  11. Alex Says:

Everybody cheat and feign injury in the game, but at least do it in believable way…. This guy is stupid, and being catch by camera? Man, that’s really embarrassing…

At least Rooney didn’t rolling and acting like he broke his leg in 10 places… Plus, he apologies afterward, and don’t forget, Rooney’s not known as a diver in the first place…

Agreed it was not the refs fault on this one, but sheer bad sportsmanship from arsenal

It was an Arsenal player that got injured remember, and Kiev let them have possesion expecting them to restart the game

Getting slightly off the subject here.
