Deportivo Saprissa 2 - DC United 2 (CONCACAF Champions League, October 9, 2008) Doe opened the scoring for DC after six minutes, taking advantage of a defensive error by Robhinson. But the MLS side then fell twice apart at the back themselves, allowing Alpizar and Elizondo to put the hosts ahead in the final stages. But just as it seemed that United had thrown away the match they hit back in injury time, Dyachenko bundled home a 92nd minute equaliser from a corner.

Real Salt Lake 1 - New York Red Bulls 1 (MLS, October 9, 2008) David van den Bergh scored his seventh goal of the season just after the half hour mark to send the Red Bulls ahead, firing home from outside the box after a corner had only been partially cleared. But the Red Bulls, who haven’t won in three matches, failed to hold onto their lead, Jamison Olave converting from a corner just before half time. The game was marred in the final stages when Juan Pietravallo saw red for cutting open Clint Mathis with a high boot.
