UEFA report covers up Polish violence

The excellent Times podcast, The Game (presented by Gabriele Marcotti and Guillem Balague), pointed out the lack of any media coverage of the violence at the end of the Middlesbrough-Manchester City match on Sunday. (Footage captured on a mobile phone can be seen here.)

Now UEFA are getting in on the act, totally ignoring the quite extreme violence that occurred after Legia Warsaw won the Polish Cup Final yesterday, beating Wisla Krakow 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out.

The violence can be seen here and UEFA’s match report here.

Stalin would be proud.

Neither video seemed particularly violent to me..

Granted that at the poland game there were a couple of people weilding sticks and getting pepper sprayed- but I didn’t see anyone get hurt or hit… And the Man City video was hardly a bloodbath!! (Although i too only heard about it for the first time on The Game podcast- so something must have happened- but it certainly isn’t on that video!)

So why be sensationalist? Stalin my ass…
