Calamity Wiese
Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese fell to pieces last night, when the goalkeeper acted as if he had oil on his hands allowing Daniel Cousin’s high, speculative 35-yard shot slip through his hands for the opening Rangers’ goal.
Wiese has a history of embarrassing European gaffs, including his comical fumble two seasons ago away at Juventus in the Champions League, when in the dying seconds the German once again showed his butterfingers, letting a simple ball slip escape his grasp, and a gleeful Emerson rolled the ball home to dump Bremen out of the cup.
In defence of the Bremen number one, it must be pointed out that he goes from the ridiculous to the sublime, in the last round of the UEFA Cup he saved two penalties in one half against Braga from Roland Linz and Jorghino.
