Raheem Sterling booked for diving v Barcelona
Manchester City made a brilliant start against Barcelona at the Etihad this evening, and put the Catalans on the back foot.
Having lost the first game so badly at the Camp Nou, City needed to make a statement early on tonight, and they did that.
And they had Barcelona under real pressure here, as Raheem Sterling ghosted into the box, only to go over after a challenge from Barcelona defender Umtiti.
But much to his incredulity, Sterling was booked for diving.
Looked a harsh call
And on closer inspection, it looked like a harsh call.
Sterling appeared to be clipped by Umititi – albeit minimally – and more often than not this type of situation would result in a penalty.
Sterling’s reaction was telling, as appeared livid with the decision.
