Mark Clattenburg: The world’s best referee
Clattenburg oversaw oversaw the FA Cup final, the Champions League final and the Euro 2016 final, all within the space of two months.
On Boxing Day, Clattenburg was in charge for Watford’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
Yohan Cabaye gave Crystal Palace the lead and Christian Benteke missed a massive penalty to make it 2-0 before half-time.
Troy Deeney equalised for Watford with the second penalty awarded by Clattenburg in the game and it seems safe to say that fans of both sides were upset with how he officiated the match.
Many of Clattenburg’s decisions centred around the fine dribbling skills of Wilfried Zaha, who was booked for diving towards the end of the match.
Many Watford fans felt Zaha went down too easily and the club’s official mascot made this view very clear to the Crystal Palace winger at the end of the Premier League encounter.
