Jose Mourinho talks about Luke Shaw, April 2017

Jose Mourinho claims Luke Shaw isn’t good enough for Man United bench (Video)

‘Shaw is a long way behind’

It looks as though Jose Mourinho has finally swung the axe down on Luke Shaw’s neck.

The pair have had their well-documented problems over the last few months.

The Special One’s press conference saw him effectively end the left-back’s Manchester United career.

Saying that he wasn’t good enough for the United bench, Mourinho said that he doesn’t show enough commitment in training, doesn’t show enough ambition. Many viewed this assessment as Mourinho throwing Shaw under the bus.

Asked what Luke Shaw has to do to make the bench, Mourinho replied: “Who? Luke Shaw? It’s difficult for him to be on the bench. Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with (Matteo) Darmian, with (Daley) Blind.

“I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition.

“I cannot compare. He is a long way behind.”

Joe Hart burn

England number one Hart won’t be pleased to hear Mourinho using him as an example.

When one reporter reminded Mourinho that Shaw is an England international, he hit back: “Joe Hart is an English international and is playing on loan in Italy.”
